I try to get out to Hallasan at least once every season. This is late summer when it's the greenest.

Chujado Man
Here's a nice guy who gave me some directions and a bit of a chat while I was walking the Olle course on Chujado

Onions
The Haenyeo don't just get seafood, they're farmers too. Jeju's society is different from the mainland, it's matriarchal. The head of the house is the woman. Women have the power here. In the farms too, all the laborers are women.

Haenyo
Someone asked me this winter how the people of Jeju will get their seafood after the aging Haenyeo disappear. What do you think?

Chujado Restaurants
I enjoy getting out into nature and taking pictures of nature, so I noticed that I don't have many photos of towns in Jeju. It looks like maybe I'll have to get out into the villages.
When I went to Chujado for the my Jeju weekly article, I had to stay overnight. There wasn't a lot happening in town, but I liked these folks sitting out in front of the restaurant eating their seafood dinner.

Hydrangeas on the Coast
Here's some Hydrangeas on the coast road by Sehwa on the northeast side of Jeju. This is my favorite coast road to cruise on my motorcycle. According to the camera info, this photo was taken June 30...Seems like that's when these flowers bloom, watch for me there this summer!

Oedolgae Swimming Hole
This is the swimming hole just next to Oedolgae. Reminiscing back to the old times before the Jeju Olle Trails, this used to be a bit of an out of the way little get-away secret spot. It was just you and the fishermen hanging out in the most beautiful of settings. This place is one of the reasons I love Jeju. I live on the opposite side of the island from here and it's still only a 30 minute drive to get here for a dip. It's not so private anymore, thanks to hundreds of hikers passing by the end of on Olle #6 and start of Olle #7, but it still provides some great swimming, snorkeling, and cliff jumping since the hikers don't swim!

Dodu Sunset
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.-Aristotle
I decided that it's time for a bit of retrospective thinking.
I took a bit of a break from blogging for a while. It was a needed break, but I've now realized how much I've missed it. Sometimes, blogging for me can be a bit of a thankless job, as I don't often get much recognition for the work put into it. However, now that I've taken a break, the thing that I miss the most is the creativeness that it encourages. Getting out of the house and taking pictures and then writing a short story about your adventure really adds a lot to my life. It keeps me moving forward.
As I try to get back into the habit of getting out of my house and exploring this wonderful island, I'll continue to post some photos from the archives.
