Another Year

Well, I'm about to sign my new contract to stay in Korea for another year! I was able to work out a good contract with less hours and a nice month-long vacation in September. I'm pretty excited and nervous at the same time.

I decided to stay for a few reasons. Most importantly, I'm enjoying life in Jeju. Work is good and I've made some good friends who should still be here for a good chunk of the next year. Granted, its not as exciting as working at Alta (ski area), canoeing in the boundary waters, or traveling somewhere new. However, the island living is nice, especially in the summer. My Korean language study is also coming along well....I can actually understand a word or two now!!! Of course the money is good too and I'm saving a boatload (by my standards) which is nice. I guess I just feel like the second year will be even better than the first.

  1. glad you're staying another year!! my foot should be healed by the time I get back from Europe and Asiana swore I'd still have my miles to make it down in the fall-- guess I'd better plan for after Sept-- but if you do decide to spend some of your vake in Jeju-- let me know and I'll try to schedule for then!

    Looks like you're having fun!!

I have a friend in Taiwan who developed a lot of the trad climbs there and has a bilinguel guidebook (did you meet Matt in Thailand?. . coincidentally he also knew Mary from climbing in Vegas-- small world!) if that interests you? not sure if there's a month's worth though!

  2. Hey Sonia! Tentatively, my month of is in Sept, but I'll keep you posted. I'm pretty sure I met Matt in Thailand. Long hair? I didn't know he was in Taiwan. Sounds fun, but I think I wanna go to Yangshuo, China!
